HONDA RECALLS ACCORDS TO FIX FAULTY WIPER MOTOR .... As reported in Edmunds Inside Line, Honda is recalling 2003 Accord sedans to fix corroded windshield wiper motors that could short-circuit. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the recall involves an "undetermined quantity" of the 2003 Accord sedan, although some media reports peg the number at 353,000.

"If the circuit breaker fails, it will cause the windshield wiper motor to become inoperative, which can increase the likelihood of a crash in certain conditions," said NHTSA in its recall summary of the problem.

Dealers will inspect the windshield wiper motor for signs of corrosion. If no signs are present, a cover will be installed over the wiper motor to prevent water from dripping in. If corrosion is present, the wiper motor will be replaced.

In February, Honda recalled 129,600 of its 2004-'05 Acura TL sedans to fix the same problem.
